Lotus Cars USA, Inc. [1] 770-822-4566 ESPRIT V8 TWIN TURBO Recent 2002 changes to the Lotus Esprit V8 continue the Lotus tradition of constantly improving this venerable supercar. They are: Redesigned rear body panel featuring round taillights Aerodynamic "lip" spoiler from the legendary Sport 350 Twin outlet tailpipes, extending from redesigned silencer New high backed seats w/embossed Lotus logo Aluminum interior accents Crystal titanium finish multi-spoke OZ Racing one-piece alloy wheels Increased flexibility The Lotus Esprit V8's ECM does not alter the powerplant's output of 350 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 4250 rpm. Instead it allows the engine to produce more torque in the lower gears. The idea was not to make the car quicker - it still runs from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds - but to give greater flexibility and driving ease in the real-world situations. More stopping power To harness this power, Lotus engineers specified front AP Racing competition four-piston fixed brake calipers and upgraded brake discs. The former 296 mm (11.6-in.) front and 300 mm (11.8-in.) rear brake discs have been replaced with AP Racing curved-vane 320 mm (12.6-in.) brake discs at all four wheels. The brake discs are both vented and cross-drilled for superior ventilation. Inside, the designers at Lotus added body color accents to the interior. This year they added body color console and door trim panels to accentuate the interior.

Lotus Announces Elise for USA
U.S. sales of the 2005 Elise are scheduled to begin in mid 2004. The "Federal" Elise will retain the benchmark performance, handling and dynamics that have proven so popular in the U.K. and Europe but at the same time complying with U.S. regulations The recipient of numerous industry awards and accolades for design, performance, drivability and handling, the Elise is constructed around a strong, rigid, yet lightweight extruded and bonded aluminum chassis. Consistent with the Lotus design philosophy of achieving performance and efficiency through light weight, this high tech chassis weighing less than 150 lbs allows for a complete vehicle weight of approximately 1700lbs (current European specification).
Arnie Johnson, Lotus Cars USA's President/CEO explains why Lotus recognizes the USA as a key market for the Elise and future models. "Our market analysis studies and surveys have overwhelmingly confirmed demand for the car. Based on customer and dealer reaction, we are very confident that the Elise will enjoy the same success here in the U.S.A. as in other markets. The introduction of the Elise marks the beginning of a new era of growth for Lotus Cars USA as well as for our dealer network. Over the next few years we anticipate further expansion and growth with new models to follow for the U.S. market." Lotus Cars USA will implement a plan to provide the highest quality sales
and service support throughout the dealer network and add new dealers
in key market areas, thereby making the brand more accessible to its expanded
customer base.
