The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides
3 different ratings - full-width
frontal crash test, side
impact crash test, and rollover
resistance. The frontal crash test indicates how well
the safety features and restraints will protect an occupant
in a head-on collision. The side-impact test conveys the chance
of a severe chest injury, while the rollover resistance rating
estimates the risk of rolling over in a single vehicle crash.

On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with a 4.0L engine only, the design of the intake and exhaust manifolds could allow debris to accumulate at the #3 cylinder
location. This could result in a vehicle fire. Dealers will install a manifold shield to modify the air flow characteristics and to prevent the accumulation of debris in the area of the #3 cylinder. Owner notification began May 13,

This Jeep was all new for 1999 and it really wowed us with its bold new shape, plush interior and its many winning ways. Jeeps have always had a sort of
agricultural ambience about them, but this one certainly didn't. It was right up there with Lexus and Infiniti in style and content if not refinement and we'd be happy to drive one across the country on a
minute's notice. We might prefer to have a chase car following us though, with some spares and a mechanic or two for company.
